About AFTA

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents Limited (AFTA) is the peak body for Australia's travel agents, with its office located in Pitt Street, Sydney and represents the majority of travel agents in Australia.

Founded in 1957, AFTA's aim has been to stimulate, encourage and promote travel, and to uphold the interests of travel agents who form a vital part of Australia's highly specialised travel and tourism industry.

Apart from being the voice of travel agents across Australia, AFTA provides financial, legal and marketing benefits, education and training, and develops policies and strategies critical to the retail travel sector.

AFTA's research capability provides a valuable tool for arguments in support of our industry's concerns, aims and ambitions. AFTA's role as industry watchdog ensures that the viewpoint of the agent is transmitted through media outlets and through lobbying activities. AFTA policies are established by a Board of Directors in conjunction with the Chief Executive.

AFTA's affiliated membership of the World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA) ensures that AFTA's views are listened to at international forums where issues of critical importance to Australian agents are decided.

AFTA’s Mission Statement

To promote travel and tourism and enhance the professionalism and profitability of its members through effective representation in industry and government affairs, education and training and by identifying and satisfying the needs of the travelling public.
